Chimba Jewels is a wholesale emerald house based in Medellin, Colombia. We buy rough and cut stones in person in the emerald districts of Boyaca and sell them to independent jewelers, custom designers, and gemstone dealers in the United States. The name is Colombian slang. If something is chimba, it is excellent, the real thing. That is the standard the name holds us to.

Boyaca / Where we buy

Most emeralds pass through five or six pairs of hands between the mine mouth and a US showcase. Each hand adds margin and subtracts certainty. We buy one step from the source: directly from miners, cooperatives, and traders we have known for years in the Muzo, Coscuez, and Chivor districts. We see fresh production before it is sorted for export, and we pick, not accept.

• Muzo

  The benchmark for Colombian color. Vivid, warm, saturated green, with the jardin that proves the origin. Our premium stones come from here.

• Coscuez

  Ten kilometers from Muzo and a different animal. Bright, slightly yellower green with strong fluorescence, in volume, from commercial goods to extra fine.

• Chivor

  The eastern belt. Cooler bluish green and cleaner crystal, scarcer than the western mines. We buy it selectively, when a trusted contact brings us something worth the trip.

Provenance / Why it matters

Every stone we sell is tagged with its mine of origin and travels with its documentation. Origin is not marketing to us, it is the product. A Muzo green and a Chivor blue-green are different stones for different clients, and your customers can tell the difference when you can tell them the story.

We work with US independent jewelers, custom and bespoke designers, and loose-stone dealers. Single stones, matched pairs, calibrated parcels, and finished pieces made in our Medellin workshop.
